Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the Syrian authorities were ready for dialogue with opposition, ITAR-TASS reports.
The minister noted that Syrian President Bashar Assad authorized Vice-President Farouk Sharaa to negotiate with the opposition.
Lavrov said that he had met Foreign Minister of Pakistan Hina Rabbani Khar. They agreed on a more complicated situation that some people demanding Assad’s resignation see it.
The Russian minister emphasized that withdrawing ambassadors from Damascus would not benefit stabilization of the situation in Syria according to initiatives of the Arab League.
