Turkish lawmaker proposes bill recognizing Khojaly genocide



A member of the Turkish Parliament from the Turkish National Movement Party, Sinan Ogan, has proposed the country's parliament to adopt a law recognizing the Khojaly genocide, Trend reports on Wednesday.

The bill also envisages erecting a memorial to genocide victims in such Turkish cities as Kars, Ardahan, Agri, Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, Kocaeli and Manisa.

The lawmaker also proposed renaming Ankara's Paris Street to Khojaly Street.

A genocide was allegedly carried out by Armenian military forces in Khojaly on February 26, 1992.
