Alexander Khloponin notes security at tourism resorts of North Caucasus

Russian Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy Alexander Khloponin met media officials in Yessentuki and talked about socio-economic development.

The official said that the main tourism areas of the North Caucasian Federal District were secure. The load of Kavkazskiye Mineralniye Vody reached 85%, unlike hotels in Sochi.

Khloponin touched upon the presidential polls in Russia. He noted that most polling stations were equipped with webcams. A few dozen stations, military bases and detention centers will have no cameras. Some areas lacking communications will not be able to exploit webcams.

The envoy pointed out two reasons for the high money-laundering rate in the North Caucasus. Firstly, combating illegal financial affairs had caused criminals to move to peripheral areas, including the North Caucasus. Secondly, there is poor banking infrastructure. Only three banks have state shares and cannot fulfil all bank services.
