Putin’s supporters plan mass meeting at Manezhnaya Square

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s supporters plan a mass meeting at the Manezhnaya Square in Moscow on February 23 with about 200,000 people attending, Interfax reports.

Stanislav Govorukhin, head of Putin’s electoral headquarters, said that the meeting at Poklonnaya Hill on February 4 had calls for a mass meeting.

Vestnik Kavkaza reported on February 4 that mass meetings were held in Russian cities. About 200,000 people took part. About 125,000-128,000 people gathered at the Poklonnaya Hill, despite initial plans for 15,000. Organizers of the meeting were fined with 2000 rubles. Putin offered to pay the fine.

The Bolotnaya Square had about 33,000-34,000 protesters. Organizers themselves said that about 120,000 people took part in a cycle regime.
