Azerbaijan and Armenia to attend 2012 Nuclear Security Summit in South Korea

Azerbaijan plans to take part in the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul on March 26-27, 2012, APA reports.

Official invitations were sent to Azerbaijan, Lithuania and Denmark for the second summit. A total of 50 states plan to attend it. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon plans to participate.

Yerevan is preparing for the summit, as reported earlier.

Organizers of the summit will focus on nuclear terrorism threats, protection of nuclear materials and security of nuclear energy. A document will be passed.

The third summit will be held in the Netherlands in 2014.

The US held the first Nuclear Security Summit in 2010 with 47 states attending.
