Gorbachev condemns Putin

Mikhail Gorbachev, former President of the USSR, gave a lecture at the International University in Moscow. He condemned Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin for his handout attitude towards the population and nepotism.

Many blame Gorbachev for the collapse of the USSR and the ensuing bloodshed. The former Soviet leader said that he could head the League of Voters, an opposition group trying to prevent Putin from winning presidential polls.

Sergey Pakhomenko, a co-founder of the league, ruled Gorbachev’s involvement out. He said that Gorbachev may visit their website if willing to join in. Pakhomenko noted that the organization has no leader, Interfax reports.
