Turkey presents road map plan for Syria

Turkey has presented a road map to resolve the Syrian crisis, 1news.az reports.

Turkey proposed an international conference on Syria, with the EU taking part, but not France. The international coalition needs to cooperate with Russia, a state which may hold negotiations with Syria on behalf of the international community.

Ankara says that Russia and the Arab League should take the most active part in the Syrian problem (unlike the Libyan one). Should Moscow and Beijing continue vetoing resolutions of the UN Security Council, an alternative solution will be searched for.

Ankara is against EU or NATO interventions.

A spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry, Bernard Valero, said that the foreign minister is in close contact with NATO counterparts, including Turkey.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is expected to discuss the plan with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Pentagon Chief Leon Panetta. Davutoglu may also visit Moscow to negotiate the issue with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
