Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov has slammed claims by the Israeli
foreign minister that the organizers of the "Freedom Flotilla" had
links with Chechen separatists, Interfax reports.
"I'm very surprised that the Russian media circulated the statement of
a famous Israeli politician about ties between Chechen separatists and
the Freedom Flotilla organizers," Kadyrov said.
"Such statements are propaganda and spread in order to divert the
attention of the international community from the bloody tragedy in
the Mediterranean Sea. There are no Chechen separatist organizations.
There are no powers interested in the separation of Chechnya from
Russia," noted the Chechen president.
"Israeli commandos attacked civilian ships in neutral waters and
killed civilians, and now this country is looking for justification,
and speaking about a Chechen presence there. They should leave all
these speculations aside and resolve their 60-year old problem,"
Kadyrov said.
