2,143,644 square meters were cleared of mines and dud ammunition in Azerbaijan in January 2012, APA reports.
The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) neutralized 186 mines, 1 anti-tank and 1 infantry mine.
484 specialist and 118 members of auxiliary staff with 6 vehicles and 36 dogs were involved in the process. The ANAMA has cleared a total of 183,615,679 square meters of territory and neutralized 665,201 mines and explosives.
The agency operates in the Agstafa, Agdam, Aghjabadi, Tartar, Tovuz, Khojavend and Fizuli Districts, at the mud volcanoes of Kirdag in the Absheron District and the village of Gyuzdek in the Garadag District.
One incident was registered with an ammunition blast in January.
