The US gives cautious ratings to Russia's part in the upcoming “Friends of Syria” conference in Tunisia on February 24, spokeswoman of the US State Department Victoria Nuland said, ITAR-TASS reports.
The US welcomes Russia at the forum. Nuland said that the meeting was initiated by the Arab League. The conference is an attempt to find a solution and implement democratic principles in Syria. Russia rejected it at the UN Security Council, the US official says.
The conference is expected to be attended by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
