Azerbaijan invited for G20 summit

Azerbaijan will attend the G20 summit in Losbacos (Mexico) on February 18-20, 2012, 1news.az reports.

Elman Abdullayev, press secretary of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, said that Minister Elmar Mammadyarov will represent the state.

Austria, Columbia, Chili, Norway, Algeria and the African Union are invited to the meeting.

The G20 is an informal group of states at various economic development stages. International financial organizations are also invited for talks on global economic and financial problems.

The G20 was formed in Washington on September 25, 1999, initiated by the G7. The world financial recession of 1997-1999 inspired the formation of the group. Its current members are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey,the UK, US and EU.
