Several Georgian social organizations had a demonstration in the center
of Tbilisi, on Rustaveli Avenue stopping at the building of ‘Caucasia’
TV channel, News Georgia reports.
The demonstrators demanded the members of ‘People’s Orthodox Movement’, ‘Union of Orthodox Parents’ to be released the NGO ‘Institute of liberty’ to be abolished for defying Orthodox values.
Young people from the Labor Party, Conservative Party, ‘Liberty’, social
movement ‘Solidarity with illegal convicts’, Society of Irakliy II,
‘Tsin’ movement, ‘Ara’ movement participated, altogether it is 50
people.
The police forces stopped the demonstrators from blocking the road.
According to a ‘Tsin’ member, Zurab Chachanidze, the representative of
police, ‘Institute of liberty’ and ‘Caucasia’ TV channel are
participants of the porovocation on May 7th. Nino Jangirashvili (a staff
member of ‘Caucasia’) pointed out to the police whom to arrest, that is
why the company is accused for cooperating with special services.
On May 7th the channel ‘Caucasia’ had a discussion on the scandalous
book ‘Saidumlo siroba’ (containing offensive points about the Lord’s
Supper). The majority of Georgian society accuse the book for offending
Orthodox values. A fight started in the studio. Three members of the
‘People’s Orthodox Movement’ and five members of ‘Union of Orthodox
Parents’ were arrested.
