Binali Halilov, head of the Meskhetin Turk community in Ingushetia, has requested the support of local human rights activists to help return to Georgia, RIA Novosti reports.
Meskhetin Turks were deported to all parts of the world after 1944. Nazran held the Caucasus Forum of Non-Governmental Public Organizations on February 18.
Meskhetins moved to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in 1944. A massacre forced them to move from Fergana and Osh. Many moved to Russia, Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
Georgia announced readiness to accommodate off-springs of refugee Meskhetins when joining the Council of Europe in 1999. The initiative was in force until 2011. Repatriation is to be adopted in two years. Meskhetins accuse Tbilisi of violating its obligations.
