RIA Novosti and Vestnik Kavkaza will organize a round-table conference on February 21, entitled “Deportation: how to preserve the historic memory”, to mark the anniversary of deportations of Chechens, Ingushetians, Crimean Tatars, Karachayans and other peoples.
Discussions will include people hit by Stalin-era repressions, reasons for modern ethnic problems, people supporting the ethnic groups in exile, measures that need to be taken to preserve the memory.
Talks will be attended by:
- Alexey Vlasov, Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, head of the Center for Information and Analytics of the Moscow State University of Lomonosov;
- Sulumbek Mamilov, People’s Artist of Ingushetia;
- Ahmat Glashev, Director of the Institute for Turkology;
- Aliy Totorkulov, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Russian Congress of Caucasus Peoples;
- Kanta Ibragimov, Chairman of the Chechen Writers’ Union.
