US warns Israel against attacking Iran

The US would consider any Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear facilities counter-productive, General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said, Interfax reports.

Israeli media pointed out that the general does not want the attack to be carried out during talks on Iran’s initiative to renew negotiations with six world mediators.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama will discuss attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities in Washington in early March 2012.

Israel has not officially abandoned plans for military conflict with Iran.
