Azerbaijan calls Iranian protest note “absurd”

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has responded to the protest note sent by Iran on February 12, spokesman of the Azerbaijani ministry Elman Abdullayev said, 1news reports.

Information in the note is “absurd, unjustified and made-up”, Abdullayev comments. Azerbaijan would never allow terrorist on its territory, as stated in the response to Iran.

Azerbaijani Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Iran Javanhir Akhundov was summoned to the Foreign Ministry of Tehran on February 12, where he received a protest note. Iran accused Baku of supporting Israeli intelligence officers to kill the nuclear specialist Moustafa Ahmadi-Roshan. The scientist was killed on January 11. Iran expressed discontent with treatment of its freighters by Azerbaijani customs officers.
