Nagorno-Karabakh conflict not a problem for 2020 Olympic Games in Azerbaijan

The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Azerbaijan disagrees with media and experts who say that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict would be a problem for the 2020 Olympic Games in Baku, Vice-President of the NOC Chingis Husseinzade said, 1news.az reports.

The official reminded that the conflict with Northern Ireland was not a problem for the Olympic Games in London, the same concerns relations of Seoul and North Korea.

According to Husseinzade, the Candidature File presented by Azerbaijan to the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne contains information on operating and planned sports facilities and infrastructure. An Olympic village is planned.

Madrid, Rome, Tokyo, Istanbul and Doha (Qatar) filed requests to host the 2020 Olympic Games. Buenos Aires (Argentina) will hold elections of the host in a two-stage format on September 7, 2013.
