Chinese vice president, Turkish president sign cooperation deals

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping was invited by Turkish President Abdullah Gul to meetings in Ankara and Istanbul, TRT reports.

The Chinese official visited the Mausoleum of Ataturk, where he laid flowers at the tomb and signed the guest book.

Vice-President Xi Jinping met Turkish Speaker of Parliament Cemil Cicek, noting the need to enforce bilateral ties. Cicek pointed out the strategic level of relations between the two states that started in 2010.

Jinping said that he expects to improve political, economic ties and cooperation in security.

The vice president visited the Cancaya Presidential Residence where he met President Abdullah Gul. They had a closed-door conversation.

Xi Jinping will be on his way to Istanbul where he will hold talks with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and attend the Turkish-Chinese business forum. A group of Uygurs from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region protested against the Chinese vice president’s visit.
