The Prosecutor General’s Office of Abkhazia has initiated a criminal case on assassination attempt against President Alexander Ankvab, Prosecutor General Safarbey Mikanba said, Interfax reports.
An inter-department investigative group was formed by prosecutors, officials of the Interior Ministry and State Security Service. Borders with Russia and Georgia were closed. The border-crossing regime on the Abkhaz-Russian frontier was intensified, the Abkhaz-Georgian border was closed for departures.
