Vestnik Kavkaza reported that the special services of Ukraine and Russia prevented terrorists’ plans to assassinate Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Odessa. Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov has confirmed the fact.
Rumours have started on the internet. People believe that the incident was a PR-initiative of the prime minister, the favourite in the presidential polls.
Vladimir Yevseyev, Director of the Center for Socio-Political Studies, told Vestnik Kavkaza that information on the attempt to assassinate the prime minister should be interpreted carefully, the incident is still unclear. Such information may mean that there are gangs activating in Moscow in the light of the upcoming presidential polls of March 4.
The expert reminded about the subway tragedy, which proves the need for more vigilance. The North Caucasus should not be neglected, its problems keep escalating and may affect Moscow.
