Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov said that mine-sweeping is one of the most topical and priority issues the republic, his press service reports.
Kadyrov held a meeting with the Cabinet. Chechen Prime Minister Odes Baysultanov and Magomed Daudov, his deputy and head of Kadyrov’s administration, were at the meeting.
Kadyrov demanded the republic to be cleared of mines in the shortest terms possible, as ordered by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in June 2010.
The president ordered security services and the Russian Finances Ministry to prepare a mine-sweeping program in two weeks. The order has not been fulfilled. Kadyrov said that with such inactivity the process could take about a century. He noted the need to start the process of mine-sweeping as soon as possible.
