Russia will stop purchasing foreign armored vehicles in the near future, Vice Premier Dmitry Rogozin said on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reports.
Russia and Italy signed a contract on production of 60 armored vehicles in December 2011. Rogozin said that national armored vehicles were unsafe for troops. He noted that NATO members prioritize the safety aspect.
The vice premier noted that the BMD4M was developed at the Kurgan Car Factory. It meets the necessary safety requirements. New cars produced by the KamAZ Factory meet requirements of the Defense Ministry too.
