Putin arrives to collapsed building in Astrakhan

 

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has arrived in Astrakhan for the council on the collapsed residential building. He is expected to visit the place and meet its residents. Putin will observe the spot and discuss compensations.

8 people have died in the tragedy. A dead man has recently been found, Interfax reports.

All residents have been accommodated elsewhere. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin held a session of the state commission for clearing the accident, RIA Novosti reports.

Putin said that about 300 million rubles will be spent on accommodation and compensations.

Alexander Zhilkin, Governor of the Astrakhan Region, said that 288 people were living in the house with 110 apartments. He said that about 10-15 days will be needed to fully accommodate the residents.

Russian Minister for Emergencies Sergey Shoigu said that clearing the ruins will take 5 more hours. 580 people were mobilized with enough equipment, he told Putin. They halt work occasionally for a minute of silence and to allow dogs to work. Shoigu expressed hope that there would be survivors.
