Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has denounced the interference of foreign powers in the internal affairs of Syria, urging support for the reforms by the Syrian government, Press TV reports.
In a meeting with Kofi Annan, the UN-Arab League joint special envoy on Syria, the Iranian minister pointed to Syria’s strategic position in the region and said the ongoing unrest in the Middle Eastern country should be resolved through talks and the reforms proposed by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
During the meeting held on the sidelines of the 19th session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, Switzerland, Salehi added that foreign interference would merely complicate the status quo in Syria.
