Dyke breach in Kazakhstan caused casualties

In Aksu District of Alma-Ata region of the reservoir "Kyzylagash" due to rainfall and raise temperatures on March 11, about 22 hours, there was dyke breach on the eastern side. Pouring water waterloged 257 households in the village of the same name, inhabited by about 3 thousand people.

The number of deaths as a result of dyke breach in the village Kyzylagash of Alma-Ata region, Kazakhstan has reached 35 people, ITAR-Tass reports, referring to local media.

President Nursultan Nazarbayev at the meeting with members of the governmental commission on breakdown elimination commissioned the commission to commence to criminal proceedings against the owner of the reservoir "Kyzylagash" in connection with the deaths.

The General Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs should initiate criminal proceedings against the owner of the reservoir. He should be prosecuted in connection with the deaths of so many people "- he said.

Prime Minister Karim Massimov, in turn, said that as for today all the people have been evacuated and partially housed in dormitories and barracks. "Virtually all operational issues have been resolved, on Monday resources will be allocated  from the reserve," - he said.

Ilham Aliyev expressed his condolences to Nursultan Nazarbayev, in connection with numerous human casualties caused by the dyke breach in the Alma-Ata region, reported state news agency APA.

"I am extremely grieved by the information about the numerous human casualties caused by the disaster which happened in the south of your country'. In connection with this tragedy on my own behalf and on behalf of the Azerbaijani people I express deep condolences to the families and friends of the deceased, to all the people of Kazakhstan", - he said in a letter .

Condolences to President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in connection with casualties  of the  floods in the Alma-Ata region  has  also been written by President Serzh Sargsyan, the news agency  "News-Armenia" reports referring to the press service of the head of the Armenian state.
