Iranian Foreign Ministry summons Azerbaijani ambassador

Iran has demanded that Azerbaijan clarify its deal on the purchase of military products from Israel. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tehran Javanshir Akhundov has been summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, ITAR-TASS reports.

The ambassador said that Israeli systems were bought to liberate the occupied Azerbaijani territories and would not be used against third states.

Azerbaijan purchased anti-missile systems worth $1.6 billion in Israel.

It has been the second summing of the Azerbaijani ambassador to the Iranian Foreign Ministry lately. Iran demanded Azerbaijan to stop operations of Israeli special forces on its territory on February 12. Iran believes that terrorists that killed its nuclear specialists moved through Azerbaijan and says that they were coordinated by Israeli intelligence services.

Moustafa Ahmadi Roushan, a 32-year old nuclear specialist from Natanz, was killed by a terrorist attack in Tehran on January 11. Several similar attacks have been organized since 2010, resulting in four scientists dead, three of them were working on nuclear technologies. Iranian officials blame US and Israeli special services for the incidents.
