Georgian patriarchy denies demands for return of Monastery of Cross

 

The Georgian patriarchy has published a special statement denying demands for return of the Monastery of the Cross. It explained that rumours were caused by a visit of the Catholicos Patriarch Ilia II to the Holy Land, Georgia Online reports.

Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that Georgian President Mikheil Saakashili said that Georgia will return control over the Monastery of the Cross in Jerusalem, which is currently under Israeli supervision.
