Inhabitants of Guba are protesting against Rauf Habibov, the local executive head, for his harsh statement of locals, 1news.az reports.
Protesters set the executive offices of Guba on fire and broke windows. Firefighters arrived and put the fire out.
About 500-600 protesters were involved in arson at the house of Habibov, located opposite the local sports complex.
Protesters demand Habibov be fired for his offenses. The executive said that the locals “sold their city for 40-50 manats”. The statement was posted on the internet and received numerous views.
Transport Minister Ziya Mamedov and MP for Guba Vahid Ahmedov arrived to calm the locals down. Ahmedov noted that detained protesters will be released. According to the latest information, the protests are ending, the executive head apologized for the statement.
