The interior forces of the Interior Ministry of Russia have lost 2984 people while "carrying out service and battle tasks", said the commander-in-chief of the Interior forces of the Interior Ministry, Nikolai Rogozhkin.
According to him, units of the interior forces killed 230 gunmen and destroyed 120 bases of illegal formations in 2009. He said in March that there are about 500 gunmen in the North Caucasus at the moment, Interfax reports.
