North Caucasus votes for Putin

Russian CEC Chairman Vladimir Churov has announced that Vladimir Putin won presidential elections in the first round with 63.75% of vote. Gennady Zyuganov, communist leader, got 17.19%, independent candidate Mikhail Prokhorov got 7.72%. Vladimir Zhirinovski, LDPR leader, got 6.23%, Sergey Mironov, leader of Fair Russia, got 3.85%.

Churov said that the North Caucasus Federal District gave Putin 82.64% of vote with 78.06% of the local population participating. The Central Federal District gave 56.89% with 62.52% attending, the North-Western Federal District – 59.13% with 61.62% attending, Southern Federal District – 63.79% with 65.81% attending, Volga Federal District – 68.1% with 68.43% attending, Ural Federal District – 67.04% with 64.54% attending, Siberian Federal District – 62% with 63.46% attending, Far East Federal District – 60% with 63.68% attending.

The Territorial Electoral Commission of Tarumovsky District in Dagestan called votes at 1402 polling stations invalid for starting to process polling sheets ahead of time, RIA Novosti reports.

The Investigative Committee started inspecting the case of an Internet video showing loading of polling sheets at the Culture Center of the Tarumovka Village. A source said that there was no violation, processing of polling sheets was started ahead of time.
