Putin calls on former rivals to cooperate

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who won the presidential
election in the first round on March 4, urged his political opponents
to respect the opinion of the voters at a meeting with presidential
candidates Sergei Mironov, Mikhail Prokhorov and Vladimir
Zhirinovsky.

He congratulated Mironov, Prokhorov and Zhirinovsky on the results
obtained at the elections.

Russian political forces should seek compromises and cooperation,
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said after the elections.

Mironov said that there were violations and they all know about them,
but you must finish the rallies and work. The Prime Minister agreed with
his opinion.

Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov did not attend the meeting
with Putin in protest. He was invited to a meeting with Prime Minister
Vladimir Putin, along with the other candidates who ran for the presidency,
but refused to come, Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov
said.
