French companies will contribute to the modernization of Turkmenistan, French President Nicolas Sarkozy told Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Trend reports.
The statement was made in a special message of the French president to mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two states. Sarkozy noted that he is glad that France was one of the first states to start relations with Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen leader visited France in February 2010. Sarkozy plans a visit to Ashkhabad in return.
French companies in Turkmenistan specialize in construction, transport, tourism and energy. The two states are realizing projects for transport of Turkmen gas to Europe. One of the variants for their realization is construction of a gas pipeline through the Caspian Sea and connecting it with the transnational project of Nabucco.
