Healthcare minister of Kabardino-Balkaria dismissed

 

Head of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov has dismissed Healthcare Minister of the republic Fatimat Amshokova over the case of deaths of seven babies at the children’s clinic in Nalchik, RIA Novosti reports.

8 babies died at the intensive care section of the clinic, seven of them were newborn babies. In early January. Parents say the deaths were caused by a power cut in the hospital, shutting down artificial lungs of the babies.

Inspection failed to find any violations made by staff of the hospital. S spokesman said that the power cut on January 6 was not the cause of deaths.

Anatoly Kantsaliyev, aged 44, has become the Acting Healthcare Minister. He worked as Chief Doctor of the city hospital of Prokhladny. The police initiated a criminal case, which may result in up to five years of prison for violators. Specialists made exhumation of six babies in February. Results will be announced in a month.
