Second round of talks between Kofi Annan and Bashar al-Assad begins in Syria

The Special Envoy of the UN and the League of Arab States (LAS), Kofi Annan, began a second round of talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday, Interfax reports, referring to the Western media.


Kofi Annan has come to the Middle East in search for a solution to the Syrian crisis.

The first round of talks between Kofi Annan and Bashar al-Assad was held in Damascus on Saturday. During the talks the Syrian president said that Syria cannot successfully engage in political dialogue, as long as there are armed terrorist groups on its territory.
