German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle has attended a press conference in Saudi Arabia and urged Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s supporters to change sides, RIA Novosti reports.
The German minister arrived in Saudi Arabia on Sunday and met his counterpart Saud al Faisal to discuss the situation in Syria.
Westerwelle emphasized that they encourage all al-Assad’s supporters to abandon him. He pointed out the solution of the crisis in Yemen. The German official stressed on three key points to end the conflict: end of violence, help for the population and peaceful political reforms.
The foreign minister reminded that Germany will attend the Friend of Yemen Conference in the capital of Saudi Arabia. The sides will discuss support for the transitional government of Yemen.
