63-year old Nikolae Timofti has become the President of Moldova today, receiving 62 out of 101 votes of parliament, Interfax reports.
All 59 members of the Alliance for European Integration and 3 votes of the Socialist Party gave their votes to Timofte. The Communist Party with 39 members is boycotting the session.
The election of the president ends the political crisis that has been ongoing since April 2009. Timofti has become the 4th President of Moldova.
