The delegation of a Turkish human rights association, headed by its
chairman Abdullah Bukshur, has arrived in Abkhazia, Apsnipress
reports.
The Turkish human right activists have held meetings with Abkhazian
Foreign Minister Maksim Gvindzhiya, Premier Sergei Shaba,
Vice-president Alexander Ankvab, and human rights ombudsman Georgii
Otyrba.
The foreign minister said that Georgia, backed by the West, was
carrying out an economic and social blockade of the region. The
meeting also saw discussion of establishing a transportation corridor
between Turkey and Abkhazia and the issue of the repatriation of
Abkhazian citizens from Turkey.
Abkhazia was also invited to join the Turkish human rights
association, which consists of 22 member states.
