Russia is one of the countries that can play a crucial role in resolving the most serious issue for Azerbaijan - the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary Ali Ahmedov said in an interview with NAP official website on Monday, Trend informs.
"Russia is one of the co-chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group, established to resolve the conflict, also demonstrates an active role in this format in the recent years. In addition, Russia as a great state with significant opportunities to put pressure on Armenia, may play a crucial role in the conflict resolution," Ahmedov said.
Regarding the influence of Vladimir Putin's election as president on the Russian-Azerbaijani relations, Ahmedov said that there are quite sincere relationship between the Azerbaijani authorities and Russian leadership embarking on its activity.
"The foundation of these relations was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev and further strengthened, by successfully developing during the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. I believe that the relations between the two countries will enter a new stage of development. It should be also noted that today there is not any serious problem
between Azerbaijan and Russia that could create tension between the two countries," Ahmedov said.
