The Russian Defense Ministry has denied information of Al Jazeera and other media about Russian warships at the Syrian coast, RIA Novosti reports.
A Russian military official said that “Iman” is the only Russian vessel, which stayed at Tartus Port for 10 days to purchase food and fuel for the Black Sea and Northern Fleets protecting the Gulf of Aden from pirates. The vessel has a marine group.
Syrian military denied arrival of Russian warships on Tuesday.
Russia’s role in Syria is unconstructive and it should understand responsibility for sending troops to Syria, Hannes Swoboda, a co-rapporteur of the European Parliament, said, Interfax reports.
