Russia may form presidential council for inter-ethnic relations

Russia may form a presidential council for inter-ethnic relations with a special authority supervising it, Russian Vice Premier Dmitry Kozak said, RIA Novosti reports.

Kozak added that the initiative was approved by an inter-department group. The vice-premier noted that he is opposed to formation of the Ministry for Nationalities. The Ministry for Regional Development is doing well with the task, but there are is not enough authority for establishing an independent structure.

The ministry is coordinates regional policy and culture, as well as economic policy, Kozak says.
