Russia wants to support the resolution proposed by Kofi Annan, special representative of the UN and Arab League to Syria, at the UN Security Council, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, RIA Novosti reports.
The UN Security Council expressed support for Annan last Friday, hoping for political settlement of conflict. A group of experts under Annan’s supervision is working. The UN representative will visit Damascus.
Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad responded to proposals of Annan on settling the conflict. Although the latter said that Damascus has not given details on some diplomatic issues. Annan discussed a cease-fire between the state forces and opposition.
The UN Security Council is to consider the resolution project on Syria on Tuesday.
