China condemns the US for unilateral sanctions against Iran, Iran News reports.
Purchases of Iranian oil is part of bilateral commercial relations and are a simple market deal following international trade standards. US sanctions violate the international law and do not help resolve the Iranian nuclear problem.
A state forcing other states to join the sanctions resembles a struggle between the hegemon and sovereignty.
Spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hong Lei said that China will not pass unilateral sanctions. The Chinese statements were a response to pressure of the US State Department, which demanded China, India and Korea to reduce oil purchases from Iran. China imports about 20% of Iranian oil annually.
