Georgian Defense Ministry discusses prospects of joining NATO with French delegation

The prospects of joining NATO have been discussed by Georgia's Deputy Minister of Defense Nodar Kharshiladze at a meeting with a delegation from France, Trend reports with reference to the Georgian Ministry of Defense.At the meeting, the ongoing reforms in Georgia in the areas of defense and security, as well as Georgia's participation in the ISAF operation in Afghanistan, were also discussed.

During the event, the delegation visited Gori. The rector of the United Military Academy of Georgian Ministry of Defense, Andro Barnov, briefed the guests on the education system.

The purpose of the delegation’s visit is to become familiarized with the military-political environment in the South Caucasus. The delegation also met with Deputy Defence Minister Tornike Gordadze and Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Batu Kutelia. The delegation also visited the Georgian Parliament, where it met with representatives of various committees.
