French Ambassador to Syria Eric Chevallier, withdrawn back to Paris, has condemned French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe for ignoring reports of the embassy and manipulating facts to augment hostilities with Syria, Reseau Voltaire reports.
The French Foreign Ministry received a report on Syria’s Daraa in March 2011, stating peace and serenity in the city, while Al Jazeera and France24 reported about disorders and bloodshed.
Alain Juppe demanded adjustments in the reports and adding information on bloodshed in Daraa. The minister threatened the ambassador.
Tensions escalated since then, as Juppe started ignoring all reports of Chevallier on stability in Damascus. the reports said that peace in Syria was disturbed by terrorist groups financed by foreign states.
Alain Juppe is in bad terms with the military authorities. He is currently isolated and cannot realize his policy, unless President Nicolas Sarkozy starts a war.
