Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan want to activate economic cooperation by uniting efforts to combat terrorism, extremism and to maintain regional security. Presidents Emomali Rahmon, Hamid Karzai, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Asif Ali Zardari agreed to unite efforts at a four-sided meeting, Vesti.ru reports.
The presidents noted such priorities as energy, railway construction, formation of transport infrastructure in the region and water supplies.
Tajik, Afghan and Iranian presidents held a closed-door trilateral meeting on Sunday. They signed a long-term agreement on economic cooperation. The document includes construction of a railway from Iran to Afghanistan and Tajikistan, formation of a single energy system and realization of other large-scale joint projects.
