Rasmussen: Georgia has not fulfilled conditions necessary for entry to NATO

NATO's door will remain open to European countries who wish to become its members, NATO Secretary General Anders FoghRasmussen said on Monday during a video conference "Moscow-Brussels", organized by RIA Novosti.

Speaking about the possible accession of Georgia to NATO, Rasmussen said that "Georgia has not yet fulfilled all the conditions required for the accession."

"But Georgia is moving ahead in this regard, and its progress is reflected in the joint work of the NATO-Georgia Commission. Now it would be premature to specify the date that concerns the future of Georgia's accession to NATO," he added.

As previously reported in March, Georgia and NATO signed an agreement on deepening their relations at a meeting of the NATO-Georgia Commission in Brussels.
