Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is on a visit to the Baba Amr District of Homs today, RIA Novosti reports.
The district had major clashes between the regime's forces and opposition.
The conflict in Syria has been ongoing for over a year. The UN says that over 8,000 people have died. The Syrian authorities say that over 2,000 law enforcers and troops died in the fights against well-armed militants
