Prosecutor general demands harsher punishment for Caucasus funds theft

The Russian Prosecutor general's Office wants harsher punishments for thefts of funds in the North Caucasus Federal District. The structure says that corrupted functionaries get minor punishments in 90% of cases, RIA Novosti reports.


Russian Deputy Prosecutor general Ivan Sydoruk said that criminals get released in 91% of cases. He noted that functionaries get fined with 100,000 rubles for stealing millions. 69 million rubles were compensated, which is only 2.8% of losses in 2011.


There were 722 corruption complaints with a total loss of 100 million rubles.
