Foreign ministers of co-chair states of the OSCE Minsk Group call for political will to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said.
Spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Lukashevich called the work of OSCE MG intensive and well-organized. He reminded about the need for intensified talks stated by the trilateral meeting of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Sochi in January.
Andrey Areshev, Deputy Director General of the Fund for Strategic Culture, told Vestnik Kavkaza that the OSCE MG is a good platform for global players in South Caucasus. The expert noted that the organization was especially efficient in the 1990s when Russia was represented by Vladimir Kazimirov.
Everyone is interested in the OSCE Minsk Group, despite its criticism. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is hard to solve and has many layers. There are controversies. On the one hand, they lay between the sides of conflict. On the other hand, there are regional interests. Support mainly comes from allies. Azerbaijan will purchase equipment worth $2 billion from Israel.
Andrey Areshev stressed that the Minsk Group failed to achieve the main goal to gain trust of the sides of conflict.
