US demands Iran pay $44.6 million for 1983 terrorist attack

The US Federal Court has demanded Iran pay $44.6 million for the terrorist attack on US marines in Beirut in 1983, when 241 servicemen died, Judge Royce Lamberth said, RAPSI reports.

The court demanded Iran to pay $6.7 millions to families of Jeffery Paul O'Brien and Daniel Lane Gaffney.

Iran has not commented on the case. Iranian Central Bank was to file a lawsuit to return $2 billion frozen at Citibank. The assets were frozen in 2008, because over 1,000 people sued Iran for terrorism.
